Fall 2011 Bloggers' Quilt Festival

I came across the Fall 2011 Bloggers' Quilt Festival and thought I'd jump in and share one of my quilts.

My Blue Feathers

I think out of all the quilts I have ever made this is the one I am most proud of. I started it for the $100,000 Quilt Challange which was put on hold before I finished this.

I wanted something simple that I could do alot of hand work to.

I remember when I was putting it together and decided to use prairie points for the border I ran out of fabric - my husband ran me all over town trying to find one more yard.
I pride myself in my hand work. My stitches are really small and uniform.

I worked on this quilt almost constantly for a year and a half. My fingers stayed tore up. I didn't start out with any particular design in mind. I made my templates as I went along not knowing what I would think of for the next one until I finished each one.

One of the hardest things about a new quilt for me is naming it.  As I was working on this I would refer to it as 'My Blue Feathers', so when I finished it I felt it only fitting to keep the name.
