I just finished this quilt for a customer. She has 2 - one with blue backing and one with red. Hopefully I will get the red one put in the frame today.

Here is a picture of the back. You can see more detail of how I quilted it.

Fall 2011 Bloggers' Quilt Festival

I came across the Fall 2011 Bloggers' Quilt Festival and thought I'd jump in and share one of my quilts.

My Blue Feathers

I think out of all the quilts I have ever made this is the one I am most proud of. I started it for the $100,000 Quilt Challange which was put on hold before I finished this.

I wanted something simple that I could do alot of hand work to.

I remember when I was putting it together and decided to use prairie points for the border I ran out of fabric - my husband ran me all over town trying to find one more yard.
I pride myself in my hand work. My stitches are really small and uniform.

I worked on this quilt almost constantly for a year and a half. My fingers stayed tore up. I didn't start out with any particular design in mind. I made my templates as I went along not knowing what I would think of for the next one until I finished each one.

One of the hardest things about a new quilt for me is naming it.  As I was working on this I would refer to it as 'My Blue Feathers', so when I finished it I felt it only fitting to keep the name.

I finally won

I can't believe it I finally won a giveaway. I'm still pinching myself.
I won Layer Cake, Jelly Roll & Charm Quilts by Pam Lintott from Jen at http://thequiltyhome.blogspot.com/.

Go by and check out her site. I can't thank her enough, it sure made me feel good at a bad time. And I almost missed it by not checking my emails as good as I should - I need to watch that better in the future.

Ghastlies

I signed up to be part of the Ghastlies Blog Hop and stupid me didn't respond to the invite. I was so busy that when I saw it I just looked at it in passing and didn't really read it - like I said stupid me. I ordered the fabric and made the lamp shade and was in the process of making the clock. Maybe next time I will pay more attention.

Dresden Plate Clock Giveaway

When I 1st got my embroidery machine I made this Dresden Plate thinking I would do a quilt as you go. Well needless to say I've been side tracked with a variety of other projects and the quilt as you go never went. I have always wanted to make a quilt type clock and here it is. My brother came over this past weekend and made the frame for me and I took a picture in the sun and one in the shade. The block measures 7 x 7.

So here's my thought - I will give this clock to one of my followers on Monday October 24. All you need to do is leave a comment letting me know you follow my blog.

Here is a People Fact:

Magnetic Wrist Band

I've been wanting a pin cushion to put on my wrist so I could put my quilts in better. It's such a pain trying to balance one on the bars. I've had all intentions of making one but never got around to it. My husband and I went to Harbor Freight Saturday and I found this magnetic wrist band. Perfect - just what I was needing and it only cost 2 something.
