Beat the Winter Blues – Quilters’ Blog Hop Party

I thought I'd join in on the fun in the Quilters’ Blog Hop Party

But 1st I thought I'd show off my lastest baby quilt.
I have been home from work with a tooth ache and was able to get this finished.
I needed it for Saturday so I finished it in record time.
I didn't do a lot of quilting on it but sometimes less is better.

 On to the giveaway.
I collected up a few things to give away.
Here is what I have so far..........
From Here to Eternity - a fun and easy pattern

Garden Pinwheels - I really like this one

Fabric Dance - another one I like alot

Right Triangles - this can be used with your GO dies

Wonder Waller by Lazy Girl designs - this was on my to-do list.

And last but not least a few notions to go with the patterns - marking pen, scissors and a needle inserter.

This is all part of the

Beat the Winter Blues – Quilters’ Blog Hop Party

The party will last til March 14th (Thursday) and will have tons of blogs to visit.
You can find a list of all the participating blogs on the Quilting Gallery page

I knew I had forgotten something yesterday when I wrote this post.
Added to the list are 2 charm packs one Welcome to Bear Country by Moda and the other Kashmir designed by Jenny Beyer.
If I find something else to throw in I will do so at the end

Embroidered Sea Pirates

I finished the lod cabin this past Saturday and my daughter reminded me that I promised to make a baby quilt for March. She didn't tell me the begining of March - I was hoping for the last of the month.
Anyway I started Saturday night making the sea pirates and finished embroidering them late Sunday.

Last night I put it all together and hopefully I can get it in the frame tonignt. With any luck I'll have it quilted and bound by Saturday.
Then I think I'll sleep all day Sunday.

I took this picture of the log cabin at work today. You can see the backing color a little better.

Log Cabin Finish

I finished quilting my niece's log cabin.
The pictures look aweful - I've been trying to fix the colors but not having much luck.

Believe it or not this backing is brown.

I meant to get some better pictures today but the day got away from me. If I remember tomorrow I'll replace these.

Burp Cloths

I was asked to make some burp cloths on diapers.
Had to go to 2 Walmarts to find the diapers.
Got on line to find the Lion King designs and the applique font. Had them downloaded in minutes.
Easy-peasy

Log Cabin

I loaded this log cabin in the frame last week. This is my 1st log cabin to quilt. Seems like I've had a lot of 1sts lately. Anyway it took me awhile to figure out how I wanted to qult it.

Looks like this is becoming my signature border.
I drew this out and figured it might work.
The backing is brown so I used brown thread.
Here's another shot. Would be nice if both sides matched up better.
I think the overall will look good (hope so anyway)

Garden Path

Garden Path Bed Runner
Here is the pattern I used to make my table topper
Mine is a little different. It's shorter, thinner and I rearranged the pattern a little in order to make the table topper.

Table Topper

I finished my 1st table topper last night and it turned out alot better than I thought it would.
I took the picture above at work this morning on the table it will rest on.

I was in a hurry last night when I took these other 2 pictures.
The house was a mess but the topper looks ok.
I'm thinking about using this pattern and making a full size quilt. I guess that will just have to go on the bottom of the to-do list.

Tee Shirt Finish

I finished the tee shirt quilt Monday and put the binding on Tuesday. Gave it to my customer on Wednesday and now I need to get another one in the frame.
It sure looks better than I thought it would. I was debating on how to quilt it and my daughter suggested a chevron pattern. That worked out perfect as far as not detracting from the tee shirts.
This was my 1st tee shirt quilt and the 1st time I used the chevron pattern.
I'll know better on the next one.

I couldn't make up my mind on the binding.
I didn't want to be too bold and take away from the top or to have it be too plain.
I ended up using the yellow and I think it was a good choice.

After I put the binding on Tuesday morning I put this table topper together.
I had to cut the pattern down a little and I also re-designed it.

Simon Beck - Snow Artist

I was going to show some of my stuff today but decided to show this instead.
This amazing work was done by artist Simon Beck.

.
He creates these sensational patterns in the snow along the lakes of Savoie, France.

Spending  5-9 hours a day plodding through the snow in raquettes (snowshoes)
The man must be a quilter at heart. These designs are so percise
At least when I make a mistake I can take a seam ripper, rip it out and fix the problem. I wonder what he does when he makes a misstep

I'm just in awe. I truly love seeing a great artist and couldn't help but share.
