Fireworks

To love is nothing, to be loved is something but to love and to be loved by the one you love, that is EVERYTHING. Never take love for granted.

I did manage to get my Fireworks quilt put together. I still need a border - I'm thinking on that.

Back in Action

Don't know if anyone has noticed but I have been MIA since the end of March. Had a family emergency that has kept me out of the loop. I haven't even been able to see what everyone else have been up too. I missed reading all the blog enteries.
I was finally able to get back in the sewing room. That's the best therapy for me.

I was able to get my twin log cabins quilted for my grandsons
You can't see the quilting until you get close

I put their names on the sides with the year.

I found a really cool chevron fabric for the backing.

I took this while I was quilting it just to make sure I was liking the pattern

The minute I laid the red one down he hopped on and wouldn't get off.
The back of this one is just like the blue except it is red, black and white.
This has his name on it as well.

Here is a peak of a baby quilt I need to have done in 3 weeks.
If it turns out like I have pictured in my mind it will be really cute.

I have done a few more things but mostly I have been rearranging and cleaning when I had any spare time. My rearranging is basically just shuffling from one spot to another - I guess that is the definition of rearranging (duh)

Scrap Quilt

I've been giving alot of my scraps to a friend of mine for her to play with, and this is one of the things she came up with.
This is her 3rd quilt ever. Not bad for 84.
I am so proud of her.
I just took it out of the frame last night.
The back doesn't really show off the quilting like I would have liked.

This is a shot of how the border was quilted.

This is one of the squares

And this is the other
I will bind it for her this weekend and we can put another one behind us.
One thing for sure I can keep her in scraps.

Some Fireworks

I've been trying to work on my Fireworks quilt and so far have only gotten 4 blocks made.
The 1st one took a little while but then I got a system down -
now it doesn't take as long.
It still takes about an hour to make one block.

I'm not really sure about my choice of fabric. I thought it would look prettier.
Maybe I need to have a little patience and wait until it's finished.

Another Finish

My daughter sent this to me to quilt so I thought I would get it done sooner than later.
When she sent it she said I could do anything easy - she just wanted to get it done.
A nice E2E would have been perfect but noooooooooooo I had to go the extra mile.
The thing is you can't even see much of the quilting.
But it's done and that's all that matters.
Here you can see the butterflies I put on the outside border.

Carousel done

I finally finished the carousel quilt.  I was begining to think I never would.

The thread matches the front so well I decided to try and not let any of it show. That made for hard quilting - I couldn't see where I was half the time.  I've never had the thread match so well before.
At least it's done (except for the binding).
I also got in a little embroidery work over the weekend

I think these are so cute. They take alot of thread though.
There are 12 designs and I managed to get 9 done. At a little over an hour apiece that's not too bad for a weekend.

Mini Pinwheels

I have beem making alot of half square triangles lately and the scraps have been piling up.
I have such a hard time throwing away anything. So I've been throwing these little scraps into my scrap bin. I figured I could use them for applique.
Well the scrap bin is overflowing and lets face it I'll probably never use all that's in it.
So I thought I would start a Mini Pinwheel project.
If I sew the triangles together as I do them then I shouldn't get too far behind (riiight!)

It should be a nice scrap quilt someday.
Of course at this size it will probably take me awhile to complete it

Fireworks

I started my Fireworks quilt and this is the 1st block.
I'm using my  MARBLEICIOUS fabric that I got for Christmas.
Isn't it great. I can't wait to finish it

Equinox

I have still been trying to get some old projects finished.
I just finished another top - Equinox.
I really liked the colors.

I also took some pictures of the bottom side of a quilt I'm supposed to be working on.
I've been finding all kinds of things to do instead.

2 Quilt Tops

I've been trying to clean up lately and that means getting some projects finished.
I usually have left over fabric and/or blocks when I piece a quilt.
When I made the 2 brown quilts I had left over squares, so I started placing them on my design floor to see what I could come up with.
I ended up having to make a few more squares but I was limited with the leftover fabric.
I thought it turned out pretty good except there was something not quite right about it.
I couldn't figure it out unil just a few minutes ago.
Now I'm wondering if I want to go through all the trouble to fix it or just leave it alone.

I also had this partially finished. I had ordered this kit from Connecting Threads but I wasn't happy with the size, so I ordered more fabric to make it just a little bit larger.
Now it's probably a little too long but I think it looks better this way.
