Finished and Sold

I spent all day Saturday working on the binding. Something that should have taken a little while turned into an all day affair, I planned on spending the entire day in the sewing room but noooo - every time I turned around someone was coming over.
It was just one of those days.
I tried a scallop edge but decided I didn't like it and ended up with a straight edge with curved corners.

I just love the binding - I think it makes it pop.

I was going to put it on my sisters website Inchworm Fabrics to sell but a friend of mine just had to have it.

Blogger's Quilt Festival 2012

I thought I would enter my Owl Baby Quilt inf the Blogger's Quilt Festival 2012 just for the fun of it.

My daught needed a baby quilt for a friend of hers and asked me to make an owl quilt.

The design wasn't exactly what I had planned. I ran low on the stripe fabric and had to change it up a little bit. I think for the best

I made 20 owls and only used 12. I have enough started for another quilt

I added the year since the baby isn't born yet and they haven't picked out a name yet either

I really had fun with the quilting

Owl Quilt

I finished the owl quiilt last night and took it out of the frame. I still need to trim and bind it but couldn't wait to show it off.
I ran a little short on the border and background fabric so I asked my mother to send me a yard that I had sent her. After I got it and completed the top I found another 3 yard piece in my stash - wonder of wonders. must have been hiding. Anyway I used a piece of that for the backing.

Here is a close up of the back

Now I need to put together the other one but since that isn't for anyone it can wait til later.
I'll post another picture after I get the binding on.
