Groundhog GIVEAWAY

How bout another GIVEAWAY

Inchworm Fabrics

I'd like to have a Giveaway for Groundhog Day.  I will be giving one lucky blogger a $25 credit at Inchworm Fabrics.

So who thinks the groundhog will see his shadow?
I know my sisters and my daughter would love to see spring come early this year. I so glad I don't have to deal with the snow. The little bit of cold weather we've gotten is enough.

Anyway back to the giveaway......................

1. Go take a look at Inchworm Fabrics and come back here and let me know what you liked. I just bought 2 samoian jelly rolls and now I'm trying to think of how to use them.   --- 1 entry

2. Become a follower or let me know you already follow.   --- 1 entry

3. Post on your blog about the giveaway.   --- 2 entries

I know these are the typical ways for a giveaway but since we are all use to it I decided not to rock the boat. I was going to pick your brains for an idea on how to use my jelly rolls but I'm not ready to start that project just yet. So I'll save that for another day.

I will send the money to Inchworm Fabrics today to be held as a store credit and I'll draw a lucky winner on Wednesday Feb. 2, 2011

No Willpower

I went to Hancock's the other day for this

and came back with this
I can't explain it but I'm sure some of you have the same problem. I read on someone's blog that they were going to try and refrain from the impulse this year to buy fabric that wasn't needed. I probably should make the same resoultion but I can't help it. IT WAS ON SALE is all I can say.

Block Swap

I got my Block from Pam in today. Isn't it great. She did such a good job makes me feel a little guilty about mine.

Block Swap

I joined a block swap last month and I finished it today. It's due Monday. I always seem to make it just under the wire. At least I made it before the deadline. She just won't get it until next week. I was wanting to do something a little more elaborate but since I waited until the last minute ---- I ought to be happy I got it done at all.

TO DO

Here is a quilt I have on my TO DO list. I even started laying out the fabrics. These are some pieces I have in my stash but I think I'll have to buy some more pieces (oh no, more fabric).
My TO DO list just keeps getting longer and longer.

Beverly's quilt

My sister Beverly made this top and gave it to me to practice on. I took it out of the frame a few weeks ago but I left some blank spots that I wanted to embrodery on. I haven't gotten to that yet. I did do 2 spaces but need to finish the rest. After the Pink tux.

Blue and Green

I made these two quilt tops a couple of years ago. I made the blue one 1st and liked it so much I thought I'd do one in green. I didn't like it as much so i sent it to my sister Jeanette at Inch Worm Fabrics since I knew she liked green. Now I need to get it quilted. My list of to-dos just keeps getting longer.

Batt Scooters

Helpful for straight stitching with the walking foot and for free motion quilting. They give  the traction needed to ease those big quilts that bare hands just can’t manage through the machine.
There are two sizes included in the kit. The smaller one, Baby Batt, goes under your right hand where the quilt is scrunched up and you have less room. Place the Batts on your quilt with the pointy sides facing each other, then cover them with your fingers, but leave your thumbs on the quilt fabric. You will be amazed at how easily you can move your quilt with these!

Lookie Lookie

I got my sofware in today for my embrodery machine and just had to try it out. This is so cool. I should have taken pictures as I went but I was so thrilled that it was working I didn't even think about it. It started by sewing the outline then I added one piece of fabric at a time. then it did the satin stitch around the edges and the stitch between the pieces and the center section last. It's not perfect but not bad for the 1st one. Slowly but surely I'm getting the hang of my embrodery machine. This is just so cool I can't wait to make a whole quilt.

Round Robin

A few years ago my family did a round robin and this is my mothers. She gave it to me to use to practice with my long arm. And practice I did. All that is left is the binding and clipping the loose threads. I'm sending it to her so she can finish it - (aren't I nice). So I guess it won't be a surprise now when she gets it.

Handbag Contest

I came across this "Handbag of the Month Contest" at Studio Kat Designs and thought it might be of interest to some.

Also has any used the Martelli Ergo Rotary cutter. It's supposed to be better if you have problems with arthritis, carpel tunnel syndrome, tendonitis, hand fatigue, neck or arm pain. I saw it on Quilters Mate. I'd love to know if it helps.

Pink Tuxedo

This is what my living room floor looks like right now. Thank goodness my husband is out of town until Thursday. I don't have anywhere else to cut out anything this big except the floor. I'm getting too old to be doing that much longer. I can get down better than I can get up. I remember a time I could stay there for hours.
Anyway --- This is the begining of the PINK tuxedo. This is going to be something. It's been awhile since I made anything this detailed. I'm going to have to brush out the cobwebs but it's going to be fun.

I forgot to mention this is for Mardi Gras.

Rotary Blades

Harbor Freight did have the Rotary Blades for 1.99 a pack. That's $1 a blade. I don't understand why the same blades are so much more for the rotary cutters.  When I got home I checked and these blades fit in my cutter. I love finding good bargains - it made my day(such little pleasures)

I worked on these 2 pieces of fabric over the weekend and got both pieces tacked and ready to go for a stack-n-whack. Now I need to decide how I want to piece them. They will have to wait for a little while. I am going to make a quilt for the Hoffman contest and I have to make a men's tuxedo (pink) for Mardi Gras. Busy Busy - I'll get there.

Rotary Blades

I read about this on another blog and just had to share.  It seems that Harbor Freight Tools sells a product for cutting carpet that takes blades that fit 45 mm rotary cutters. The blades are 2 for $1.99/ I haven't checked it out yet but believe me I will this next weekend.
They sure do look like they will work!

MY NEXT PURCHASE

If you're like me you get all kinds of magazines in the mail. I don't know who likes them more me or my husband. I got one yesterday with the Dresden Plate Embroidablock for my embrodery machine and I just have to have it. I just love Dresden Plates but don't care about applique too much. My very 1st quilt was a  Dresden Plate and I still have it now. Of course it's about 40 years old and the backing has shredded and needs to be replaced. (Not to many people will sleep under it). This will do it for me in the hoop - isn't that awesome. I just have to have it. I can't wait.

Blue Trip

I put this one in the frame Thursday night. I basically quilted it the same as the last one. I'm getting better with that pattern so now I need to move on. I love being able to get more projects finished with the machine quilter but I still like hand quilting.
