Star Wall Clock

I decided to make another wall clock for the Moda Bake Shop Sliced contest.
I figured I'd make one without the frame. I drew up the pattern at work this morning and paper pieced it when I got home. I think I like the frame around it better but this one is nice too.
I think I will take the other one to work and hang this one in the sewing room.

I added some trim

Block Swap

Ever had one of those days when nothing works out right. Yesterday was one of mine. I wanted to make a special block for my January partner so I picked out this pattern. I spent hours trying to get it perfect - I ripped and sewed and ripped and sewed and still couldn't get it to work out right.  The picture doesn't look bad but it won't lay flat

It won - I gave up and made this one instead.

Then I made this one for my February partner, She wanted a Scrappy Trip Around the World. I don't think this is quite right
I will get them in the mail today and be caught up for a few days til I get March's partner

Dresden Wall Clock

Sorry, I haven't felt much like blogging lately.
I did get the rest of my fence and gate finished. The minute I got home Friday I started it. Between me and my husband we finished it in 4 and a half hours. Which was good because Sat and Sunday it rained. Of course Sat and Sunday I was so sore I couldn't move.

Last week my daughter told me about the Moda Bake Shop Sliced contest - and I'm such a sucker for them. Of course I don't know why - I don't win contests, giveaways, sweepstakes or anything else.

Anyway I started with this

A layer cake of Lily & Will II

I made this Kindle Case - which I'm not very happy with but I entered it anyway.

And then I made this clock which I'm really proud of.
I marked my fabric before I started so I could place my Dresdens in the right place and I can't believe I actually got it right on the 1st try.

Sorry for such small pictures but you can see them better at Moda Bake Shop or flickr

Silhouette Cameo

I stayed home yesterday with a sick grandson so I thought I would play with my Silhouette Cameo. I've had it since December and haven't stopped long enough to figure it out. Figuring it out wasn't really that difficult - just a matter of getting some hands on.

Silhouette has plenty of designs to buy and download but unfortunately for me most of what I want they don't have. I wanted to make my own quilting templates - So I have to make my own.

I had to scan an image, then trace over it in the program - simple enough. After that it was just a matter of deciding what kind of cut I wanted. That was where the playing came in. I can do many different cuts with different line styles on different types of material.
Speaking of material I can also cut things out of fabric - I've been working on that too.

As long as I'm rambling I thought I would mention that I found a sewing auction website Sew Auction.com. This Month's contest is an EXTENSION TABLE of your choice - just REGISTER to WIN !
I registered (but not to win - that's just not in the cards for me) and I'm thinking about listing some of the things I need to get rid of - like my wooden hand quilting frame. --- TOO much stuff - not enough house

Mosiac Bargello

I found this pattern by Dereck Lockwood a couple of years ago and fell in love with it. I just never thought I would make it - just another pattern to sit in the drawer and stay on my to-do list.
Well I decided to start it a few weeks ago. I managed to get the yellow ones done and again I thought it would be awhile before I would finish it - Another UFO
My mother and sister came down for the weekend and I thought this would be something I could do while they were here. And a good thing too - I wouldn't have gotten as far without my sisters help. We worked on it all weekend and when they left Monday morning I didn't have a whole lot left. So when I got off work I plunged in. It took 4 more hours and they were done.
I couldn't stand it and had to lay them out to see what they would look like.

Now I can't wait to put them together and get the border on. At least I have them this far and it won't take much to finish it - Another UFO

Monkey-ing Around

I finished the basket quilt last Sunday and put another quilt in the frame. I've got my husband working on the crinolines and I felt like playing. So I did this little monkey. I have a customer that wants a monkey quilt and I thought I'd work one up for her to look at.
I started this post last week, got side tracked and forgot to publish it.
Since then my mother and sister came to visit, my husband finished all the crinolines and with the help of my sister I've just about put together a mosiac quilt top.
My phone is on the fritz, went on a job interview, and bought the materials to finish my fence and gate. So I guess we all know what I'll be doing this coming weekend - if it doesn't rain.
