2 Quilt Tops

I've been trying to clean up lately and that means getting some projects finished.
I usually have left over fabric and/or blocks when I piece a quilt.
When I made the 2 brown quilts I had left over squares, so I started placing them on my design floor to see what I could come up with.
I ended up having to make a few more squares but I was limited with the leftover fabric.
I thought it turned out pretty good except there was something not quite right about it.
I couldn't figure it out unil just a few minutes ago.
Now I'm wondering if I want to go through all the trouble to fix it or just leave it alone.

I also had this partially finished. I had ordered this kit from Connecting Threads but I wasn't happy with the size, so I ordered more fabric to make it just a little bit larger.
Now it's probably a little too long but I think it looks better this way.

Truck Top

Two trucks quilt tops put together.
I cut this truck quilt out a few months ago.
Actually I cut out 2. I always figure as long as I'm cutting......
Thank goodness I cut 2 because I will probably never make this one again.
I really had a time with them.

My intention was to make them for my grandsons.
But I think I've changed my mind.
I also managed to get a truck load of alterations done over the weekend.
So now that I'm all caught up on the alterations and have these truck quilts put together I can start a new project - Or at least finish one of my many UFO's.

Clearly Perfect Angles

I've had a few designs lately that have called for half square triangles.  Like anything else I try to make them as perfect as I can, so I get out my little ruler and start marking from one corner to the other. Then I remembered I had ordered a template a while back that would allow me to make them without all that marking.

Clearly Perfect Angles is a vinyl template measuring 8½" x 11" that "clings" to sewing tables so you can sew perfect 45° angled seams.
This is great - I saved so much time.
I know I could probably just eyeball it and get a close 45 angle but I really like percision.
And it is colour coded for both 1/4" and 5/8" seams.

More Finishes

While my mother was here over the weekend she put the bindings on 3 of these quits.
I did one - yeah!!

I also got a quilt done for my daughter.
This is the quilting in the border
If you can see this it is the back

And this if the front.
She made it and sent it for me to quilt.

Log Cabin Finish

My niece sent this log cabin and I finished it Saturday.
I didn't have enough backing fabric and I have seen where some people have added inserts on the back so I thought I would give it a try.
So this was my 1st insert and I was so pleased that it turned out so well.
I was worried that it would be crooked but it was perfectly placed and it stayed in place as I quilted it.
This was a huge quilt and I couldn't get the entire quilt in the frame and still see the designs, so I just took sectional pictures.

I really like the way the pictures show off the log cabin sections.

My mother came to visit and she put the binding on while I finished up another quilt.
I have 2 log cabins of my own that I need to get quilted - maybe this will be incentive to get mine done.

A Little Preview

I have been so busy lately but haven't finished anything.
That makes me feel so unproductive.
I am in the process of putting together 2 twin size truck quilts. I'm to the point of sashing and borders but I stopped to start working on this quilt.
My niece sent this last year. It was one of two. I've already finished the smaller one but this was quite a bit bigger and I kept getting side tracked. So I hope she doesn't mind that I'm practicing on it.
It seems like I'm always practicing

Quilt Show for Red and White Quilts

http://sewcalgal.blogspot.com/
Most of you have seen this before but I thought I'd show it again for the Red and White Quilt Show over at SewCalGal.
I made this back in July 2012.
Red hasn't always been one of my favorite colors but I had seen so many red quilts that looked awesome so I just had to make one myself. And I am so glad I did.

I found this pattern in a jelly roll book done in blue.
So I went digging in my scraps for all the red I could find.

The white fabric has little red dots on it - I bought that about 25 years ago to make my girls an outfit.

I use red thread and white thread in the quilting.
This was the 1st time I had ever done that.

If you have a red and white quilt go to SewCalGal and enter.
I can't wait to see all the quilts.
