30 year project finally finished.
I played with the pebbles and used 3 different colors of thread. It was all the same brand but for some reason the pink did the best. I really had a hard time with the purple. I couldn't seem to go over the circles without getting out of whack.
As I stated before I embroidered this 30 years ago when I was expecting my 2nd daughter. I don't know if I told her it was hers or she just claimed it but she has been waiting for me to finish it. Her 30th birthday is in 3 weeks and all I have left is make the sleeve and clip threads - I can drag that out for 3 weeks.
My camera fogged up on me when I took it outside for the pictures. I thought it had thawed but I guess not
Quilting professionally or just for personal use is a rewarding art form being enhanced by the imagination of young and old.

Sweet Gum Gone
Remember the Sweet Gum
Remember the stump (Actually the stump was alot shorter - I just forgot to take a picture)
Now check out the yard. It won't be long before I have a nice carpet of grass (I'm hoping). I just about killed myself this past weekend trying to level this mess out. After we had the stump ground down my front yard looked like craters on the moon. I was able to get my brother to come over and help. Thank goodness for that or I would still be working on it. I'm getting way too old for that kinda work.
I was able to get a little sewing done and I now have 40 Dresden Plates ready to be put together. I'll just add it to my To-Do list. At least they are finished. I'm thinking about sending it to my daughter and get her to put them together. That would be a simple soultion.

Rough draft
I started bloging a few years ago so I could keep up with my grand kids and share pictures and information with my family - since we are scattered all over the place. I was putting all my quilt things on it as well and I decided last year to seperate the two. I don't have any problem putting the pictures on here (since that is what I want to share) but having to write a little something is hard. I'm not a very good writer. I remember a time when the only way to keep in touch was writing letters - I wasn't very good at that either. My friends didn't get very many letters from me. I see that blank piece of paper and my mind goes blank.
Anyway enough of that. I don't know if it matters or not showing my Hoffman quilt since I'm debating on entering the contest but I have it put together. I need to fix the outer ring so it lays flat - which won't be to difficult - and a few minor fixes and it will be finished. I'm hoping to be completely finished by the end of the weekend. I have bought a dowel rod and hangers and I'm going to hang it in my office at work. I don't have any space on the walls at home.

Practice - Practice- Practice
I was at a loss as to how to quilt this and played around with a few different ideas before i came up with the pebbles. I figured this would also give me the practice I need to get better. The quilt has blue, beige and white hexagons. I'm using a teal in the blue, purple in the beige and pink in the white. So far I've got 2 blue, 1 purple and 1 pink done. It sure does make the dolls stand out

Southern Belle Sues'
I managed to get the sashings done on my Southern Belle this week even though I had to watch my 4 year old grandson. That sure takes alot out of me especially since I can't get to my sewing machine when he is here. Just 4 more weeks - he won't be a baby much longer so I am going to try and enjoy it.

Burgandy Sunshine and Shadow
I put this together yesterday for a customer. It's the third or fourth that I've done so far. It's super easy and people seem to like it. She wanted one in burgandy and this was about as good as I could get. I looked all over for burgandys and now have quite a stash. I wasn't that crazy about these colors but they turned out nice. Shame the picture doesn't show them off very well.
Now if I can finish the Hoffman quilt today I can say I had a productive weekend. It's been awhile since I was able to get this much done - just don't look at my house.

Southern Belle Sue
OK new project --- I'm getting a good collection of unfinished projects. the thing is I work on each a little here and there ---- at least I don't get bored.
I made this one to see if my customer would like it better than the regular Sunbonnet Sue and figured it would be a starter for another baby quilt. Well she loved it.
So she brought me the fabric to make hers and this is the 1st one. I'll take it to show her tomorrow and I bet I get another hug. The dark pink fabric is from a shirt belonging to her father-in-law and she wants a piece of it on each Sue.
I'm going to have fun with this one. Now I need to get the quilt that's in the frame out so I'll be able to get to this one. I'm also piecing one for another customer and hope to have it all pieced by Monday
