GIVEAWAY

I have been so busy lately I haven't had a chance to blog.
So this is a two-fold GIVEAWAY.
I have been using my GO cutter to cut up some scraps and I have around 90 2.5" strips that I will giveaway using the random number generator. next Friday 10-11-13.
All you need to do to enter is comment with a name for a new business. My mind is a total blank. I will be quilting, sewing and doing embroidery. You don't have to follow or be a follower (it would be nice).
I have been reading up on it and I need something with a positive spin to it and Average Quilter isn't as positive as I would like. Although I do feel like it fits me.

Anyway just leave me a suggestion and I will draw a winner next Friday using the random number generator.
Thanks

Take Along Project

This is my take along project to give me something productive to do when I'm away from home.
I have always wanted to make a hexie quilt so I started cutting out my hexes from some charm packs.
I made a template and started cutting. So they aren't perfect and I have to trim them up when I use one. I made an offhand comment to my husband that if I had a GO it wouldn't take me as long and they would all be perfect.
Well -  With the help of my daughter he ordered one and it should be here tomorrow. (I have to remember to watch what I say around him)
I thought I'd make my hexies with the folded flower on one side. It's really easy to do. I'll put a tutorial on here later. I have been starching them so they will hold a crease better. I'm about a third of the way through the stack.
I am still trying to figure out what I want to do with the center - button, jewel or something else. I'll work on it.

I have cut out a bunch of smaller hexes out of fusible batting to put inside. Hopefully the GO will help with cutting the batting
These are just a few I've done trying to perfect my technique.
I'll probably wait till I get them all done before I start putting them together.

What a mess

Like most of us I too have a big pile of scraps. I've been collecting for years not knowing what I'd do with them but not being able to throw them away either. Now that I have my embroidery machine I've been using them for the appliques.
Yesterday I dumped out part of them and started sorting them into different piles according to sizes. I'll put the smaller ones back to use for future appliques and I think I'll send the bigger pieces to my daughter. She has a GO and can cut me a bunch of half square triangles. I've been wanting to make a scrap quilt for awhile but don't want to have to cut out all those triangles by hand. Hopefully she won't mind
