Big Quilt

My mother gave me this to quilt and I finally got around to it.
Took me 3 days to get it done. I got it finished last night and took it out back this morning to get pictures.  Still need the binding - I'll let her do that
I thought I would do something easy and the shell pattern seemed to be right
I think it turned out nice

I marked it up and used one of my rulers
Did a little free motion on the borders
And this was the smartest thing I did. When I 1st started I put a string around my marking pen and started marking like I have always done. Then I remembered my Silhouette.  I made a template on card stock. I wasn't happy with that - couldn't see thru it. Then I remembered I had some light weight vinyl - Perfect. What a great tool.

Blogger's Quilt Festival 2012

I thought I would enter my Owl Baby Quilt inf the Blogger's Quilt Festival 2012 just for the fun of it.

My daught needed a baby quilt for a friend of hers and asked me to make an owl quilt.

The design wasn't exactly what I had planned. I ran low on the stripe fabric and had to change it up a little bit. I think for the best

I made 20 owls and only used 12. I have enough started for another quilt

I added the year since the baby isn't born yet and they haven't picked out a name yet either

I really had fun with the quilting

Dear Jane

As you know I started these Dear Jane quilts last year. I say these because I thought it would be just as easy to make 2  - and it is. So I have one using off white and civil war type fabrics and the other is white with bright colors. So the ones on the left are the off white and the ones on the right are the white.

Anyway I got back on it yesterday and made these. At the rate I'm going it will take me another 10 years to finish this. So I need to make more of an effort. I would love to finish it this year (I know I'm dreaming)

The Owls are Done

I couldn't stand it and had to put the binding on last night after work.
I thought about a scallop edge but decided against it and just made rounded corners instead.

I tried something different on this quilt. I did a little trapunto on the owls and stripe frame. You can't see it very well in the pictures but it shows up real nice in person. I also put a little piece of fleece under the eyes as I was embroidering it.

They haven't decided on a name yet so all I could put was the year

I'm really proud of my little feathers and the circles - both turned out good.

Owl Quilt

I finished the owl quiilt last night and took it out of the frame. I still need to trim and bind it but couldn't wait to show it off.
I ran a little short on the border and background fabric so I asked my mother to send me a yard that I had sent her. After I got it and completed the top I found another 3 yard piece in my stash - wonder of wonders. must have been hiding. Anyway I used a piece of that for the backing.

Here is a close up of the back

Now I need to put together the other one but since that isn't for anyone it can wait til later.
I'll post another picture after I get the binding on.

Owl Top

I finally got the owl quilt put together with the fabric I had. I have 9 owls left for another baby quilt but that will have to wait for another day. Who knows by the time I get ready to put it together I might have  something else in mind.
Anyway... I did something different and marked it up before I put it on the frame. So now it's framed, marked and ready to quilt. If only I didn't have a ton of alterations to do.
