Jungle Abstractions

This is The Lion from Jungle Abstractions collection by Violet Craft.
I saw this at the Fat Quarter Shop and knew I had to make it.
My 1st grand daughter loves lions and I'm going to surprise her on her birthday next month.
She's going to love her grandma even more.
This is a paper piece project.
It took 32 11x17 pages.
I figured as long as I was making one that I'd make two.
One for my grand daughter and one to sell.
Here's a picture of part of the pieces before I started putting them together.

I kinda made a mess peeling the paper.
I tried to hit the trash can but missed a few times.

This is what it looks like with my fabrics (draped over the sofa).
I do like my colors.
I decided to just order the pattern and use up some of my fabrics.
This measures 60x60 right now.
I'm going to put a border on it to make it a little bigger.

It took me a solid week to piece this awesome Lion.

I wouldn't have been able to do it this fast if I had still been working.
If you didn't catch the little hint...
I am now retired!!!!
YEAH

Works in Process

I fell in love with these patterns.
This one is Fine China.
I kept looking at the kit when it was on Craftsy but wouldn't let go of the money.
So my sister bought me the pattern and I gathered up the fabrics from my stash.
This is one quilt that having the kit would have been worth it.

 I added the embroidery medallions.
This is just the center section.
I think I'll just add a few borders and call it quits.

This is one that I did order the kit from Craftsy.
It might look hard but I found it pretty easy since it was paper pieced.
I even enlisted my husband to remove the paper.
Since the quilt is for him that's the least he could do.

It's not finished yet but I couldn't wait to show some pictures.
I took it out of the frame last night and I'll put it back in tonight.
I need to finish some places that I couldn't do at that rotation.
I'm really proud of the center medallion.
It's one I digitized - I'm learning

Night Sky

Amazing how time flies yet the days go on forever.
I have really been lazy with my blogging - as if anyone could tell
or
even if anyone has noticed.
My niece decided we would all chip in and make blocks for a quilt for my mother.
These are the 2 I made .
One will be from me and the other is for my daughter that doesn't sew.
Glad I wasn't in charge of this project.
It's so hard to get everyone to do their part - lives can get so busy.

The next pictures are of ny Night Sky quilt - pattern by Jaybird Quilts.
This was alot of fun to make.

I thought I wanted a king size but this is really king size.
It's huge.
For now it will go into the pile to wait to be quilted.

Qwl and Tee Shirt

I am so bad.
It has been awhile since I have even looked at my blog.
I need a sceretary to keep up on my posts and visiting.

I finished the owl quilt for my daughter to give as a gift.
What can I say - I like owls.
I need to get busy and make some more.

I found this design to use on the quilter and have been dying to use it.
I was just an inch and a half short on the backing fabric so I decided to piece pinwheels.
It turned out cute. I could have centered the back a little more but that's life.
I learned a long time ago I'm not perfect.
Thus the name Average Quilter.

I also put his name on it.
But since he wasn't born yet we just went with the year.

I've also been working on this tee shirt quilt for a customer.
I have alot of fun doing these - it just takes alot of interfacing.

I used a fleur des lis pattern on the back.
She was thrilled with the results.
I do take orders.

Blogger's Quilt Festival

<div align="center"><a href="http://amyscreativeside.com" title="AmysCreativeSide.com"><img src="http://amyscreativeside.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/spring-2015-BQF-Button-e1429716312925.jpg" alt="AmysCreativeSide.com" style="border:none;" /></a></div>
Thought I would join in the fun and enter my quilt in the Blogger's Quilt Festival
I named this quilt 'Night Blooms"- couldn't think of anything better.
I tried my hand at this one and did something new to me.
I scalloped the edges for a better look and it was well worth it.
I had never done a scallop before.
It wasn't too difficult.
I also did some trapunto work.
Now that was a little time consuming.
But definately well worth it.

Now you can go back to the Blogger's Quilt Festival and vote for my quilt.
Thanks for stopping by

Dear Jane remembered

Since I finished my quilt I needed to find something to do.
What can I say - the choices are limitless.
I didn't really want to start another quilt since I have so many going already.
So that left finding something that has already been started.
I knew I don't have enough time to complete anything so I decided on Dear Jane.
I worked on these part of the day Friday and most of the day Saturday.

I have one quilt with muslin background and one with white.
A little hindsight and I think I would rather done one with a darker color background.
So sad...So sorry --it's not happening now.

As usual the camera doesn't show the true colors.

This will put me at 55 squares completed (for each)out of 225.
I'm not even halfway.
If I don't forget about it again I might finish it before I croke.

Finally Finished

This is why I haven't been posting much lately
I took alot of pictures trying to get the perfect shot.
Still need to clip a few threads but it is finished.
It probably wouldn't have taken so long if I hadn't had to work on it a little at a time.
Plus I spent alot of time trying to digitize the perfect design.
I'm learning.
This was my 1st try at trapunto too
Now I need to get it entered in the Houston show.... wish me luck.
Oh yeah I still need to name it - any ideas??
