A finish and a start

Wow - I can't believe I actually got on my blog. My computer has gone on strike and won't let me cross the picket line.

I finished quilting my Dresden quilt and finally put the binding on. I had planned on selling it but the quilting didn't look that great (to me anyway) so I put it on the bed.
I sure thought it was a bigger quilt than it is. Turns out it barely covers a queen top.
I guess I will need to make another one - good chance to use up that mounting pile of scraps.

I went digging in my stash of quilt tops and came out with this one.
This was one of the 1st tops that my sister Beverly (Quilter's Corner)  put together.
So I started working on it this past weekend. As you can tell I haven't gotten very far.
Doesn't look like I will have a chance until the new year.
At leat with it set up I can grab a few minutes here and there (hopefully)

And now for the lighter side.
My daughter will be visiting after Christmas and I have an extra addition for her to take back with her.
I just couldn't resist taking this picture - so cute. The little one is mine and the larger one is a schnoodle.
She has 4 kids now and they soooo want a puppy but one has allergies - so a schnoodle it will be.

This is the most use my treadmill has had in awhile.

Lil Twister

I picked up the mail the other day and I had a package from my sister Jeanette @ InchWorm Fabrics.
All I could think was what could this possible be - I hadn't ordered anything???
Well to my surprise she sent me a Lil Twister ruler.
How cool was that.
I have been wanting one for a while but wouldn't spend the money.

Here's a pattern I found to show what the ruler does.

So this will be on my to-do list this next year
Thank you so much Jeanette

Baby Blankets

Sorry I have negelected my blog lately. I just haven't had much to say.

Anyway I figured I would make some baby blankets for a craft fair.
Don't be fooled -  they were easy to make.
This is part of them.
I put them on craig's list this morning - hopefully I can get rid of them there.

Blogger's Quilt Festival Win

I was on my way back from JoAnn's and couldn't resist taking this picture. The wind was blowing pretty good and the flag looked so awesome and so big.
I'm sorry about not blogging before now but things have been hectic as usual.
I thought I would share the good news that I won a viewer's choice award on the Blogger's Quilt Festival.

I am so thrilled - I never win anything and this was so great. I guess it payed to con all my friends to go vote.
There were so many awesome quilts

Here are a few more pictures of some quilts I really liked at Houston Quilt Festival.
I really like whole cloth quilts and applique.
A little of both is great

The quilting on the was awesome. Maybe someday I will be that good.

A Partial Finish

I was able to get my Dresden Plate out of the frame yesterday.
I wish I could say it was finished but I can't.
I will have to put it back in the frame to complete 3 side borders.
It turned out alot better than I thought it would.
I was really worried about the varagated thread but I think it looks good.

I will have to put it on hold for awhile so I can get a few things done for Christmas.

Houston Quilt Festival

I went to my 1st Quilt Festival this past weekend.
My mother came down and my daughter drove. We left Friday and went to the Festival on Saturday.
One day was definately not enough.
My husband said he would take me next year and we would do a couple of days. My mother and daughter enjoyed it so much that they want to go back too.
I took a few pictures - even got in trouble for taking one I wasn't supposed to.
We only saw about a third of the quilts displayed.

My daughter loves cats and she fell in love with this one.
She's not a quilter but she can appreciate the quality.

My other daughter likes houses so I took this one for her. It was huge

You can't tell by the picture but this one has alot of sparklies

I thought this one was awesome. It was one of my favorites

This one is of the Houston Temple and the piecing was awesome.
This was at the top of my favorite list. I think it is incrediable

My daughter bought me this quilt kit from one of the vendors for my birthday and Christmas.
I am dying to make it. I guess it will just have to wait - I'll just drool over it til then.
One thing that was really cool was running into some people that follow my blog.
If any of you are reading this I really enjoyed meeting you and hope to see you again next year.

I will add some more pictures tomorrow

Blogger's Quilt Festival

I thought I'd enter my baby quilt in the Blogger's Quilt Festival put on by Amy's Creative Side. Nothing like waiting til the last minute.
I made this Owl baby quilt in June. It is 54" x 45". I know that is a little big for a baby quilt but I like things on the bigger side.
I found these machune embroidery applique owls at Designs by JuJu and just couldn't resist them.

This was the second quilt I made using the owls. The 1st one had a plain border.
I think the pinwheels really made this one pop.

I quilted it on my longarm quilter.  I am having a blast with my quilter. Just wish I had gotten one years ago. My husband tried to get me one but I always said I didn't have the room.
I made room and it is well worth it.

I decided to round the corners and use a multi colored binding to give it the finishing touches.
This has turned out to be one of my favorite quilts.

Visit all the other quilters sharing their quilts at the Blogger's Quilt Festival and don't forget to go vote for your favorite

I'm #606

New Addition

I hate it when I don't get anything accomplished over the weekend.
I spent Saturday runing the roads and cleaning my filthy house. I hate cleaning but do like it when it is.
Yesterday I did get in a little quilting, made a huge pot of gumbo and washed cloths.
Now I'm back at work wondering what happened to my weekend.
I did these carousels a few weeks ago. I got the design and couldn't wait to try them out.
I know I should have waited but I just had to see what they would look like.
Cain't wait to get all of them done.

I did get my sewing machine back from the shop the other day and it is so nice having it back where it belongs. Amazing when we get used to something and nothing else will do.
I am totally spoiled even though my embroidery machine will do everything my sewing machine does.
Anyway when I got my machine back the bulb was blown, so I went to JoAnn's yesterday to see about getting a new one. No go - they didn't have one. I figured I would have to order one and then I saw Lowe's  next door so I figured why not - they had some so I bought 2.
The kicker is Home Depot probably had them too and they are practially in my back yard - JoAnns was 25 minutes away. Live and learn

I thought I would show off my new puppy.
Female long hair chihuahua. Her parents were on the small side so I doubt if she will weigh more than 5 lbs - and that will probably be pushing it.
My grandson named her Sugar
