My New Kitchen

I haven't posted for awhile so I thought I would update
This is a picture of my new kitchen.
It's not finished yet and neither is my house
We have been living in a camper beside the house since Sept 17
I honestly thought I would have been back in the house by now
What can I say - Contractors!!!
This has been a real live experience from the Money Pit---
  Two weeks...........
Can't tell how many times I've heard that.

My shell of a House

So this is what I have to look at.
Kind of sad really
It seems like every time I turn around I think of something else that I lost.
I guess that will pass with time.
Everyone says now I can start with a clean slate -
I would rather have the old slate.
Guess this is my poor pitiful me day.
That will pass with time too.

Louisiana Flood

That's all I can say
We lost everything we own.
I have been so excited to retire and play in my sewing room.
I had (notice I said had) everything I could ever want or need.

This is my 2016 Maxima after the water went down.

The morning of the 13th the water came in so fast we had to wait in the truck until we were rescued.
That's my husband's truck and my car in the background.
We were at 2 1/2' within 2 hours.

My house took almost 6' of water
I took this on our1st walk thru of the house.
This is my embroidery machine.
The quilting machine is behind it.
Both machines were under water for 4 days

This is a picture of my life in front of my house.
Everyone's house looks just like this
Nothing left -
heartbreaking to throw away all my beautiful fabric and machines.
It was gutted today

It will be along time before I will be able to do any sewing.
We ended up being boated out of 3 places last Saturday
Ended up staying with strangers for a few days.
Now we are at my daughters.
Who know what will come next or how long it will take our town to recover.

We are blessed that we were able to survive -

A Not So Good Quilt

I started this a few years ago and could never figure out how I wanted to square it up
And this is what I finally came up with
I'm not happy with the results
But at least it's done and I don't have to think about it any more.
Here is a shot of the back

Another Stack-n-Whack

I am so excited to share my new sewing machine.
Get a load of this Juki TL 2010Q
It's a straight stitch semi industrial.
1800spm
I love it

I ordered a set of led lights from Amazon
Definately makes a difference

And this is the first thing I've pieced on it
I pieced this a few weeks ago
It is huge
and I didn't even put the last row on

I made this stack-n-whack for my daughter's birthday
My grandson picked out the fabric back in January
and asked me to make it for her

 144 squares
So I stopped at a twin size
Below is the fabric I used.
Above is a close up of some of the blocks
I just love how they are all different

Still Here

I haven't gone anywhere - still here
I have been busy and a little lazy with my posting.

I have made these 2 wall hangings
and have 2 more to go.

As you can tell the back is upside down.
I still like the way it turned out
I tried something new for me and did the one on satin
 and upside down picture

Got hooked on these bargellos

Made a quilt for a customer
Got a new cabinet for my fabric.
My sister came down and helped me get it arranged.
I also got her hooked on those bargellos
quilted this for my daughter
Made this for a customer
Found this awesome fabric for the back

I've done a few other things since my last post but  I'll save those for later.

Bargello

Here is an up close of the red bargello from the previous post.
I did circles so as not to take away from the design.

And here is a blue one I put together today.
Already have it in the frame.
It is so easy and fun

It's in the Works

This was a project my mother started and never finished.
It was a row of the month from a fabric shopp.
All paper pieced. Thanks to my husband for ripping off the paper.

Here is my second lion quilt.
I decided to quilt it different than the 1st.

I put this little girl quilt together - now it needs quilting.

Here is a bargello quilt I put together for my mother.
It's in the frame now
I have been working - just too lazy to post.

Storybook Quilt & Giveaway

I did these crinolines a few years ago. Even had it put together.
I am trying to knock out some UFO's and this was just begging to be quilted.
When I put it on the frame I wanted to make it special for one of my granddaughters.
So when I settled on this design I knew it was perfect.
You might have to zoom in a little to see the design
Makes it look like a storybook.
So I named it the Storybook quilt.
I think she will love it.

I have spent 2 days working in my sewing room trying to get it organized AGAIN.
So when I was putting up fabrics I decided to take a bunch of the smaller pieces and strip them up with my GO cutter.
This took all day today
I ended up with a nice size mess and even nicer pile of 2.5" strips.
I still have a stack of 1.5" I need to do but that will have to wait.
I've played around long enough now I need to get back to work.
I have a project I want to attempt and it will probably take me a couple of weeks.
So in the mean time.....................

I would like to have a small giveaway.
I have set aside a little more than 100 2.5" strips to give to one of my followers.
Just leave a comment
I will pick a winner next Sunday Feb 28.
