Basket's done

Well, I finally finished the basket quilt. Now all it needs is the binding.
Notice anything on the back
On the second row the second basket I missed the fill on the handle. I will have to use my home machine to fix it. And I thought I had done such a good job.
I managed to get 2 quilts done in the month of January - Hopefully I can keep it up the rest of the year.

Jelly Roll Winner

I would like to thank all the people that follow my blog and to thank everyone that voted for my quilts. I think it is about time to retire both of them - they have seen enough. I am ready to pass them down to my girls but my husband won't let me  - he likes them too much.

Anyway on to the winner of my Jelly Roll giveaway. I had 2 of these and it was really hard to part with this one - but it was worth it

And the lucky winner by way of random number generator is .........
#18 Kathy who said
'I voted for you and then shared it (Kathy Schaller Snider). You now have 17 votes! Good luck.'

And look who is happy about that

One step at a time

I am trying to knock out some UFO's this year and my Home Tweet Home is one of them

I know mine don't look exactly like the patterns but i plan on embelishing them when I get all of them ready to put together.
I have 3 more to do to have all 9 done.
I found an embrodiery pattern of birdhouses that I thought I would use in the sashing - I can't wait. Chances are I'll get side tracked and it will take another 6 months.

Block Swap

Such an unproductive weekend. I spent all day Saturday on the road running errands and yesterday is just a blur. I hate weekends like that - I'd much rather have something to show for it. But I suppose we all have times like that - things need to get done.

I did receive another block for my block swap - it will go great with all the rest.

And I thought I'd take a pic of all the blocks I have so far. I have learned a little from the Swap. One thing I probably should have picked a specific pattern. I think this will look good but it would have looked alot better had they all been the same pattern. Later this year I will change it.

Don't forget to enter my Jelly Roll Giveaway and to go vote for my quilts

Progress

My husband finally finished my sewing thread caddy. He made one for my embroidery room and I liked it so much that I asked him to make one for the sewing room.

I cleared out 5 plastic drawers full of serger thread that now occupy 4 of the shelves of the caddy. I knew I had alot of serger thread but didn't realize it was that much. Now I can use those drawers for storage - which one of them is already beginning to fill up.
I cleared out 4 small plastic drawers with regular thread and that filled close to 2 shelves. I have more thread in another cabinet that I need to bring in here but those will have to wait. I got side tracked and moved to another project.

I'm still cramped for space but with no other options I make it work. At least this is progress ----

Here is a progress picture of the current quilt in the frame. I have since rolled it 2 more times and have 2 more to go. I've been trying to make sure I quilt on it a little each day --- two reasons --one to continue the practice and 2 to get it finished. I have so many tops that need quilting that I need to stay on top of it more this year

At least that is progress too. For me that is saying alot.

Aurifil Quilt Contest

I just entered these 2 quilts in the Aurifil Quilt Patchwork and Embroidery Threads contest on Facebook. If you've followed my blog for any length of time you probably have guessed that these are my 2 favorite quilts. I put more work into these than any others I have done.

Anyway I would like to ask everyone to go vote for my quilts. The quilt with the most votes wins the contest and gets a suitcase of Aurifil thread. I really want the thread. And I would really like to win the contest. I know I don't stand much of a chance but it's worth a try.

Thank you everyone

A Few More Things

My sister cut this out for me and I just couldn't wait to put it together. The pattern ended with the white border and I decided to add the rest. I was in such a hurry to get it done so I could get back to things I really needed to do that I wasn't paying attention and messed up all 4 corners. I folded it up and put it away with all the other tops that need quilting. I figured when I get ready to quilt it I will fix it then.

This is the current quilt in the frame. I can't make up my mind on the baskets yet. They have a heavy paper backing on them that is making them look a little odd. I would like to leave them alone and just might. Hopefully I will get it finished this weekend.
Then I will have 2 quilts to bind - I still haven't done the heart quilt yet.

Been having trouble with my feet hurting after standing at the quilting machine so I went to Harbor Freight and bought a set of these floor mats. At first I just figured they hurt trying to hold up all this weight - I'm sure that is part of the problem. They have really helped.  Need  all the help I can get

Dear Jane cont.

I have been so bad - I have forgotten my Dear Jane. So Saturday after a little house cleaning I decided to do a few Dear Janes. Actually I should have been in the yard raking leaves but this sounded like more fun.

And now for more cleaning. I try to rake all the cuts into the trash but as you can see I miss alot. I have little pieces all over the place - even as far as the kitchen. What a slob.

Actually this doesn't look as bad as it could be.

Anyway - I have 5 more Janes' finished. It has been so long since I last worked on them that I can't find my tracking sheet. So I either need to make a new one and spend time marking it up or spend time looking for the old one............. Maybe later.

New Quilt needs a name

I finally finished my quilt. I had put it in the frame back in August and even quilted almost 1 entire row but I didn't like the way it was looking. That is a major problem of mine - I'm never satisfied. So I took it out and ripped out most of the stitches.  Now that was a job - I had wished I had left it in the frame. I ended up having to replace the last row and borders and start again. If I had only left it alone it would have been done months ago.
Anyway this is the quilted top

Here is a close up of the stitching

Here is a close up of the stitching from the back side

And here is a bigger look at the back

And last - Here is the binding
I was going to name this quilt Daydream but I'm not sure that fits. I could sure use some ideas.
I have a little more work left to do on the pattern - hopefully it will be  printed up in the next few days

Also I was wondering if anyone would be interested in a scrap swap. My scrap box is overflowing but it is overflowing with the same scraps that I've seen over and over again. And  I got to thinking if we had a scrap swap, similar to a block swap, that we could all increase the variety of our scrap piles.  Let me know and I will work something up

Hearts and Feathers

My daughter made this top and sent it to me for practice. And practice I did
The overall look is ok

I played with the feathers.

I tried a few pebbles

I opted for a scallop on the border

Another look at the overall

A closer look

I added a few leaves and vines

I still need to put the binding on and make a label. I finished it Friday and put another one in on Sunday.
My daughter and sister have sent a bunch for me to do and I keep adding to the pot.
