My New Toy

I casually mentioned to my husband that I wanted a blind hemmer for Christmas and look what he did.
This came in the mail the other day. And then he had a table made for it to sit on.
It's well past the point of not having any room to move around - and I'm using 2 rooms.
I have always wanted a blind hemmer - 80% of my alterations are hems.
I have already done 4 pair.
I keep telling myself to watch what I say to him and forget and tell him anyway.
I did mention that I wanted a new sparklie but he didn't bite on that one. He says I have the only diamond he will ever buy.

Button Cake

I saw this on my facebook page and I think this is such an awesome cake.
I would just love to pinch one of those buttons off.
Half vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream and half lemon cake with lemon curd and lemon mousse filling.
Eileen Gray, owner and baker over at the Cake Art Studio in Paoli, created this fab button-covered cake.

Finally Finished

I put this quilt in the frame mid July - right before I hurt my hand. My customer wanted it for her daughter's birthday on July 26. Needless to say I didn't make that deadline. I feel real bad about being so late but it couldn't be helped.
As usual I took a few pictures.
The first and last picture show the true color, the others are kinda murky.

Shame you can't see the quilting very well.
I did diagonal lines on the outside rows and vertical and horizontal lines down the middle row.
I didn't quilt in the yellow blocks so they stand out from the rest of the quilt.

Anyway - it's finished and now I can move on to another one.
I am so glad to be sewing and quilting again.

More Dear Jane

I was cleaning up my sewing room last night and realized I had these Dear Janes's that I had finished. So I figured I would put them on here just to show that I have done a little sewing lately.
I couldn't do much with my hand in that splint so I played with these since it wouldn't matter much if I messed them up.
At the rate I'm going this is going to be a really long project.

New Dragons

I can't believe it's been a week since I've looked at my blog. Sometimes life gets so busy and so many things get in the way.
Hopefully I'm back - and with two working hands.
I went to the dr. last Monday and besides some swelling and stiffness my hand is ok. I can even bend my fingers - hurts a little but that will go away with time.
Haven't had a chance to get any sewing in yet but I will get to it.

I have been playing on the embroidery machine. I found these new dragon designs and I couldn't resist. Aren't they cute.
There are 10 different designs and I have already finished all of them. I figured it would make a really awesome quilt. My grandson has decided that this is the quilt for him.

Stacking Bins

I got so tired of digging in drawers and always hunting for something. So I decided to get some stacking bins to help organize some of my mess. I bought these large bins at Harbor Freight on sale. They are normally $3.99.
Now on to the good part.
As you can see I have 2 different sizes. The smaller ones come from JoAnns and they are normally a little over $5.
I like the larger ones much better (I can get my fat hand in better) and I bought both sets on sale for about the same price.

Ladybugs and Giveaway Winner

This is my work in progress (one of them anyway). I've been working on it off and on for  awhile now. I still have 2 more spaces to fill and to attach the borders. I have them put together so that's a plus.

And now for the Winner of my Giveaway. The winner by the random number generator was #53
