Reindeer Quilt

I finally finished the Reindeer Quilt.
As usual I'm not real happy with the quilting.
But this time it's justified.
I did alot of stippling trying to make the designs stand out.
Since the back won't be seen much this will work.
I made this for my oldest daughter and I have another one for my youngest.
I probably won't get to that one til next year.
Sure felt good to get this one out of the frame.

Happy Scrappy Christmas

My sister gave me a pattern for a Christmas quilt Happy Scrappy Christmas by Lucy Fazely.
I bought some fabric at JoAnn's on Black Friday that I though would look really nice.
I cut my squares and made my half aquare triangles.
I pressed all the seams open and by the time I finished that I had pretty much decided that I wasn't going to square them up.
But I changed my mind and 6 hours later I was able to sew them up.
I sewed up the 16 blocks and layed them out to see what it was going to look like.
I was going to wait and put it all together later but I couldn't stand it and finished it up last night.
It was too big to get the complete picture so this will have to do for now.
I did the borders my way instead of the way the pattern called for.
I am really proud of the job I did on this one.
It pays to take your time and do it right.

Owl Forgotten

I completely forgot about finishing this owl quilt top over the weekend.
I had envisioned this differently than it turned out.
I had to make an effor to make sure I got all my stripes going in the same direction.
The colors look real good together but this looks too busy to me.
Since it's a baby quilt I guess it will be ok.

Or will it make for an angry baby???????
Something to think about!

Merry & Bright

I was so pleased to get this in the mail from Inchworm Fabrics.
Now I need to make a Christmas quilt.
I have one in the making right now - hopefully I will have the top finished by the weekend.
Merry & Bright is definately on my to-do list.
But is is so hard to break the seal on a cool jelly roll.
Go check out Inchworm Fabrics for some great deals

I also wanted to share something I use alot - Glow-Line Tape.
When I first bought this I didn't think it would be very useful, now I can't do without it.
It is a transparent and fluorescent tape for highlighting lines and shapes on rulers.
It won't leave any residue on rulers and it comes in three colors - pink, orange and yellow.
It can be repositioned many times and still stick to the ruler.
Funny how something so minor can spoil a person.

Reindeer

I finally got the reindeer quilt top put together.
I still need to add the last border and quilt it.
I'm not as happy with it as I thought I would be.
Maybe after it's quilted.

Tidbits

I had totally forgot about entering a quilt in SewCal's Red and White Quilt Challenge
and I received an email that I had won a prize.

"Covering America" Pattern, a quilt design that contains 50 state blocks.
How exciting - and I really like the pattern.
THANK YOU SEWCAL AND MCCALLS QUILTING.
Another quilt for my to-do list. At this rate I will need to live forever to get all my to-dos done.

I did some playing over the weekend on my quilt
This is still in the developing stage and this is where I am right now.
I'll pick it up this evening and think on it while I get a few other things done.

I also started something for Christmas...

And another hopefully I'll get it done.

Pinwheels

I threw this together using a couple of charm packs.
Now for some quilting.
I have marked the border with scallops.
I might regret that but I thought it would be a change.

Unplanned Stack

I had some left over fabric from a stack-n-whack and I needed to make a baby quilt for Christmas so I figured it would be perfect.
But things got out of hand - as usual.
Since I don't have a design wall I just sat on the floor and started playing with a bunch of different pieces...and I came up with this

I started on a small scale trying a few different things ...
I have it put together to this point but need to decide what I want to do from here.
I have a few ideas but will have to put it aside for awhile and get some other things done.
I am really impressed with how well it has all gone together so far (notice I said so far).
I think these are the best stacks I've ever done - all the points and seams are perfect.
Still need a baby quilt done for Christmas.

Baby Tiger

Believe it or not I'm Still Here
I know it has been awhile since I last posted but I have been busy.
And too lazy to stop and take pictures.
I have 6 quilts piled up on the couch waiting for binding. I'm usually pretty quick about that but it kinda snuck up on me and before I knew it I was overwhelmed.
I kept thinking I'd get on it after the next one but it never happened.

Anyway here is a picture I did take.
This is what my tiger quilt looks like.
I put together a king size and ended up taking these 6 squares off the bottom ...
Thus a baby quilt was born.
Now I need to find some more of the purple fabric for the outside border and then I can quilt them.
I have enough of the purple for the backing but not the border.
If I can't get any more I guess I'll have to use what I have for borders and find something else for the back.
It's always something ....

Working Progress

I quilted this for my friend.
She's is having a ball with scraps.
I've been giving her all my scraps and now i have my mother and sister joining in.

I put this one in the frame over the weekend.
I've been trying to decide on how I wanted to quilt it.
I was wanting to do some special design work but since it's so big I think I'll do an e2e

And I'm still trying to get my wood pieced painted for another cabinet.
This is a project that feels never ending. But with the weather cooling off a bit it has been nice getting outside.

Turtle Quilt

I finished quilting my turtle quilt.
It still need a binding - hopefully I'll get to that this weekend.
To start with it is alot bigger than I had originally planned.
I was wanting it to be a baby quilt.
It turned out 65" x 83" - a nice size twin.

I'm really happy with the results.
I think this is one of my better quilts

UFO Almost Done

I've had so much work to do lately that I haven't posted much.
I decided I was going to get this stack-n-whack put together before I worked on anything else.
I had all the stars sewn onto the black background and it was a matter of how did I want them placed.

I tried it like this but it looked to busy...........

Then  rearranged it for this..........
It didn't do anything for me either

And I settled for this.....
Now I need to add the last 2 borders and it is ready to go.
Hopefully I will get it quilted sooner than later.

I also started another design set.

Portable Backdrop Stand

I am so thrilled - my husband found a Portable Backdrop Stand on craigslist yesterday.
I have been telling him for a few years now that I wanted one.
Maybe now I will be able to take better pictures of my quilts.
I finished the ladybug quilt and gave it the honor of being the 1st on the stand.
