Dragons anyone

This is the quilt my husband did the embroidery work on and I decided to quilt it over the weekend. Actually it was easier to do this than do the things I needed to be doing. I haven't got the binding on yet but that will come. I'm thinking about doing that in the yellow.
I decided to do something different around each dragon and to do nothing in the yellow spaces. The thread was such a perfect match that you almost can't see the quilting. That's why I didn't take a picture of the back - it's the same fabric as the front.

HELP!!

I need help
I have been all over town and all over the internet and I can't find any of this fabric.
I thought I would try and put it out here and see if anyone might have a piece that I could buy.

I knew better than use it to begin with since I didn't have enough.
It would have worked if I hadn't changed the design.

Baby Quilt in the Making

I've been asked to make an owl baby quilt. This is how I decided to make the blocks. The owl is small so I thought if I added a border that it would look alot better.  Only thing is it has now become a twin quilt. I will probably break it up and make 2 little ones.

I sewed the border strips together then cut them on a 45. So I ended up with a bunch of scrap triangles and decided to sew them together to make the little blocks in the sashing.

Now the big problem is I'm almost out of the stripe fabric - Typical.
I'm thinking about making pinwheels for the sashing to go along with my scrap blocks - but no fabric.
Oh No - I have to go shopping

My friend's 1st quilt

I took this off the frame last night. It took a week to get it quilted.
This quilt belongs to a good friend of mine. I did the cutting and she pieced it. It is her 1st quilt and she is 83 years young. She and I have spent years sewing together but she had never tried to put a quilt top together -I've got her hooked now.
I will cut the binding tomorrow and she can start working on that.
It isn't really this red - it's more of a rose color. Still can't take good pictures.

It's hard to see the quilting on the top - the back shows a better view.

Now on to the next one.
I have so many things I need to do and alot more that I want to do. It's a shame I'm not lucky enough to stay at home. But the end is in sight

Octi-Hoops

I know I haven't been around much lately but as everyone knows sometimes life just gets in the way.
And as usual I'm probably just now finding out something that everyone else knows about. But I ran across this the other day and I thought I'd put it out here for those of you that are like me and haven't seen it yet.
I found this to be a really interesting for machine quilting with a home sewing machine. I think it would take me a little while to get the hang of it and the embroidering with it. But then it's taken me a while to get the hang of a long arm - this just wouldn't take up as much space.
The Octi-Hoops allow you to free-motion embroider and quilt with ease
without a foot.

Octi-Hoops are 3 frames that are shaped in an Octagon shape.
The frames sizes are: largest 11.5" to medium 9.5" to the smallest 7.5" .
There is a hole on each of the 8 sides of these Octagon frames which are designed for the 2 green handles included in the kit to drop into. These handles that are shaped like a writing pen are comfortable to hold and make it feel like you're actually writing as you guide your embroidery-work or free motion quilting along. The handles drop in easily to each hole and come out just as easily, so you never risk lifting the frame as you embroider,
AND THEY WORK ON ALL SEWING MACHINES - EVEN A TREADLE OR FEATHERWEIGHT !!! As long as your machine will allow you to sew a straight stitch without any other attachments attached to the machine, you can use these. ( I copied this info from an ad)

Flower blocks

My daughter ordered me this flower set and I couldn't resist - I had to make one to see how it looked. The cd has 10 different designs each a different flower.

Now that I've made one I'm going to put my husband to work on the rest. I'll get him to make 2 of each and change up the colors of the flowers. That should give me enough for a nice size quilt and it will keep him busy for a while.

Block Swaps Made

I finally managed to get caught up on my block swaps.

This is one for my March partner. I started it and decided I didn't like the way it was working out. I'm sending it anyway maybe she will want to finish it.
So I made this one for the official swap. Seems like this is my basic star block.

This is the one for my April partner. I used the same pieces as the March block I just arranged them differently.
I thought I would add a little something extra to dress it up a little.

Strips and Salsa

I did manage to get this put together last week. The pattern is called Strips and Salsa and is super easy to do. I cut out more than I needed and ended up with a King and a Full. All I need to do is put the borders on and then I can add it to the rest of the tops. Looks like I'm going to have more tops than I can handle. I can't help it I like to sew.

I ran across this quilt on Sue Dauio's Quilting Adventures and I think it is just awesome. So I asked if I could share on my blog

Go stop by her blog and let her know what a great job she did.

Blocks Received

I'm sorry to say my blogging hasn't been very good lately. I've had the Flu since last week and been watching grandbabies who also had the Flu - where do you think I got it from. We are all getting better -  'bout time.

I received my blocks for March and April for the Block Swap Adventure and as usual I'm running behind on getting mine out.

Blue King Quilt

I'm back.
I had a deadline to get this quilt done for tomorrow and I finished it last night.
I had a hard time deciding how I wanted to quilt it but once I did I had to hurry and get it done.

I had a customer that wanted a king size quilt for his granddaughter and this is the one he picked from all the tops I have on hand. I made this one and one in green that I gave to my sister. I wasn't crazy about the green one and I'm not that crazy about this one either. Definately not crazy about the way it turned out after it was quilted. But they loved it so I guess that's all that matters.

I did get a chance to use a couple of my circle rulers for the border. And I got more practice with my feathers.

At least I made my deadline and I can do some cleaning in the sewing rooms today

You can't tell it by the pictures but this is really a medium blue.

He wanted it extra thick so I doubled the batting. Besides being thicker it is really heavy.
