The Quilts are Hung

I gave my daughters my best best quilts. You know the ones you just can't get rid of.
My husband was a little upset that I would give them such a gift.
The way I looked at it they were just getting ruined folded up at my house and the girls had places they could hang them - they were going to end up with them one day anyway. I have  put them on the blog before but it has been awhile.
My youngest finally got hers hung and they look so much better hanging up.
I made this one for the $100,000 quilt contest and it made it into the semi finals.
It is hand quilted. From start to finish it took 4 months.

I hand embroidered these dolls 32 years ago - it took 9 months.
Dolls of Nations Quilt Pattern
My daughter has put a claim on it a long time ago.
I had it losely quilted except for the binding but never would finish it. So when I got my quilting machine I took the quilting out and did it on the machine. I probably should have waited until I was a little better with the machine but it gave me some practice.

I had found this patter in a magazine and fell in love with it.
I believe the cost was under $5.

After I finished all the dolls I started a flower of the month pattern for my oldest daughter and you'll never guess where that one is -- my oldest UFO. How sad.

The American Indian is my favorite.

I so agree with you Margaret, let them enjoy them and you too as far as that goes, you can pet them and pat them every time you visit your daughters. And I know, with a quilting Mom, they have a love for them too. And the grandchildren will want them when they grow up. I say good job done Ms. Margaret.

I so agree too. I gifted on my 'better' quilts to my children for the same reasons. I, also, gave my daughter my handmade/carved cedar chest (the last one my Dad made) and that holds quilts for the grandchildren to be given at a certain age - I may not be here for that process. They get to enjoy them now and into the future to pass on to future generations.

I must say I just love your dolls. They remind me of paper dolls I had when I was little. I don't suppose you still have that pattern do you? I'd love a copy if it's still available.

Those quilts are just gorgeous and they are right where they belong. I know the girls love them and can enjoy them everyday. Those dolls are amazing!!

I agree you should give the quilts to those who will use them. I have an elderly friend that has almost 30 quilts that she has made for her kids and grand kids but she wont give it to them because she doesn't think they appreciate all her hard work. She is in her 90's.
