Qwl and Tee Shirt

I am so bad.
It has been awhile since I have even looked at my blog.
I need a sceretary to keep up on my posts and visiting.

I finished the owl quilt for my daughter to give as a gift.
What can I say - I like owls.
I need to get busy and make some more.

I found this design to use on the quilter and have been dying to use it.
I was just an inch and a half short on the backing fabric so I decided to piece pinwheels.
It turned out cute. I could have centered the back a little more but that's life.
I learned a long time ago I'm not perfect.
Thus the name Average Quilter.

I also put his name on it.
But since he wasn't born yet we just went with the year.

I've also been working on this tee shirt quilt for a customer.
I have alot of fun doing these - it just takes alot of interfacing.

I used a fleur des lis pattern on the back.
She was thrilled with the results.
I do take orders.

Owls are finished

I was able to get the binding on the owl quilt last night. The back is a pink polka dot flannel so I didn't want to use the cream fabric that was on the front. Lucky for me when I made my 9 patches I cut out more than I needed.  I thought I did good using it in the border - that cut it down quite a bit. After  I used it on the binding I had only one square left. My luck usually doesn't work that way.

I put my pineapple quilt together over the weekend - I still need to put the border on.
I thought I might make it a little wider than normal and do some applique
It was paper pieced and this is a picture of how it looked before the paper was taken off.
Took my husband 3 nights to get it all off. He stayed up late last night just to have it finished.
Sure helped me out.

Blogger's Quilt Festival

I thought I'd enter my baby quilt in the Blogger's Quilt Festival put on by Amy's Creative Side. Nothing like waiting til the last minute.
I made this Owl baby quilt in June. It is 54" x 45". I know that is a little big for a baby quilt but I like things on the bigger side.
I found these machune embroidery applique owls at Designs by JuJu and just couldn't resist them.

This was the second quilt I made using the owls. The 1st one had a plain border.
I think the pinwheels really made this one pop.

I quilted it on my longarm quilter.  I am having a blast with my quilter. Just wish I had gotten one years ago. My husband tried to get me one but I always said I didn't have the room.
I made room and it is well worth it.

I decided to round the corners and use a multi colored binding to give it the finishing touches.
This has turned out to be one of my favorite quilts.

Owl Quilt #2

I took the second owl quilt out of the frame Friday. I've meant to put some pictures on here but never found the time. I still need to do the binding and then I will post the finished quilt. I believe I like this one better than the last.

I have a question for anyone that can help. When I view my blog all I see are the posts. I can't see any of my sidebar info. I can see it on my phone.
What have I done on my computer that prevents me from seeing my sidebar info?

Peek at the Owls

I have finally gotten all my owls done and have been playing around with different ideas on how I want to put them together. I really like the brown fabric I found to go around them and I have a really good contrast fabric to use.

I also got in my backing fabric the other day
I can't wait to get this finished. Working on it a little here and there will probably take a little while longer.

NO MORE FLOOR

I finally have a wall that I can use for design. I moved the hanging rack I have had in front of this wall to give me more space in the sewing room and I have been looking at this wall for weeks now. Last night I thought I'd give this a try. There isn't a whole lot of room to move around but at least I can put my pieces here instead of the floor.

So these are the 1st pieces to go on the wall.
I'm not crazy about the rectangles
I think I like the diamonds better (doesn't really matter now). I have a few ideas for sashing and placement.
This sure gives me a better visual and I can leave it up while I think on it.

6 more Hoots

I've been busy with a bunch of other things but I have managed to squeeze in a few Hoots. I have 6 more to go then I will need to figure out how I want to put them together. I have an idea forming - just need to cultivate it a little more.

Hoot - Hoot - Hoot

'Look at me' -I sound like my 3 year old granddaughter. She loves to dance around saying 'Look at me'. Anyway I started another project. I haven't made a quilt for my youngest granddaughter yet so I thought I would make an owl quilt. I made the 1st block and thought it needed something so I added a piece of fleece behind the eyes of the second. You can't really see the effect but it looks better in person. The only thing was I trimmed the fabric too close and it frayed in one area. So on the 3rd on I didn't trim it as close and it worked better. This is going to be such a cute quilt.
